Friday Night Lights

With the finale of the 2025 regular season now upon us, the Lakers are looking to pick up a win on the road in Kansas City with the playoffs right around the corner and Osage is welcoming a potential playoff foe for one final tune-up.

Camdenton Lakers

Camdenton (1-7, 1-6) is headed out on the road for a non-conference game in Kansas City against the Southeast High School Knights (0-8) this Friday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m.

In last season’s meeting between these two teams, the Lakers handled the Knights with ease, defeating them in Camdenton by the final score of 70-0. Prior to that game, neither team had played each other before, so this will be the Lakers’ first game against them in Kansas City.

So far this year, Camdenton is averaging 21.3 points per game while surrendering 44.5 points to their opponents after their loss last week to Capital City on the road, 28-49.

The Knights are currently averaging 5.3 points on offense and giving up an average of 37.9 points on defense. They are coming off of a 8-15 loss to Northeast Kansas City in the previous week.

While this week will not be a Central Missouri Activities Conference game for the Lakers, it does present a similar matchup to their week 5 game against Battle. Both Battle and Southeast are winless this season and are averaging fewer points than a touchdown per game. Look for the Lakers’ offensive flourishes in recent weeks to continue while their defense is in line for a good game against a Southeast team that has been shutout four times this season.

According to the National Weather Service, the forecast for tonight’s game will be cloudy with a low around 50 degrees, an east-southest wind around eight miles per hour and a 50 percent chance of showers amounting to less than a tenth of an inch.

Osage Indians

The Osage Indians will be back at home for the first time in three weeks when they host the St. Francis Borgia Knights for a non-conference game to finish the regular season this Friday night, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m.

Osage (6-2, 4-2) is playing Borgia (5-3) for the second year in a row in a home-and-away series that the Indians dropped the first game of 0-24 on the road in Washington last season. Prior to that, the two played each other in 2008 and 2009 with Osage winning both of those games by the identical scores of 17-14.

So far this year, Osage is averaging 32.1 points per game and their defense is allowing an average of 18.9 points after their 21-0 shutout of Southern Boone last week.

Borgia is currently scoring an average of 27.6 points per game while surrendering an average of 23.4 points. They are coming off of a 21-42 loss to Vianney.

This week’s game between the Indians and Knights is a potential playoff matchup between two Class 3 schools that could meet in the State Tournament if both make it out of Districts. Coming into this game, both teams are in a good position to take the top seed in their respective District tournaments, making their path to the State playoffs a bit easier by affording them a first-round bye. However, neither team will know until after tonight’s game whether or not they will earn that top spot in Districts.

According to the National Weather Service, the forecast for tonight’s game is cloudy with a low around 51 with an easterly win around seven miles per hour, with a 60 percent chance of precipitation amounting to less than a tenth of an inch.
