State Representative Jeff Vernetti celebrates sponsored House Bill 107, a measure to honor the late police officer Phylicia Carson, being incorporated into Senate Bill 348, sponsored by Senator Travis Fitzwater, and signed into law last week by Governor Mike Kehoe during a surprise signing ceremony in Branson.
The legislation will designate the bridge on U.S. Highway 54 that crosses over the Grand Glaize Arm at Lake of the Ozarks in Camden County as the “Police Officer Phylicia Carson Memorial Bridge.”
The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) will be responsible for erecting and maintaining signs that would demarcate the proposed location.
“This is a momentous day for our community as we honor Officer Carson’s sacrifice,” stated Vernetti, R-Camdenton. “Her extraordinary courage and dedication profoundly impacted the community she served. I’m grateful to Senator Fitzwater for including this measure and to Governor Kehoe for signing it into law. This memorial bridge ensures her legacy endures.”
