Local racing legends Myrick Coil and Tyler Miller made waves at the XINSURANCE Offshore Race this past weekend, capturing a major victory in the 500R Factory Stock class right here on their home lake.
Racing for the first time in the former championship-winning #7 MTI 390XR from T/S Motorsports, Coil and Miller didn’t miss a beat. They outran a highly competitive field in one of offshore racing’s fastest-growing classes — the Mercury 500R-powered Factory Stock division — thrilling fans and cementing their status as top-tier competitors in the sport.
“It means everything to win here at home,” said Coil. “This lake is where we grew up, where we learned to race. Getting a win in front of this crowd, in this boat — it’s special.”
The win marked a strong debut for the pair in their new ride, a 39-foot MTI catamaran that previously claimed a national title. The boat’s return to the top spot, now with two local champions at the helm, made the moment even more meaningful for the Lake of the Ozarks community.
“Racing in front of our hometown fans and putting the #7 back on top — that’s what it’s all about,” added Miller. “We’re just getting started.”
The Lake of the Ozarks crowd showed up in force for the two-day event, lining the shoreline and cheering on hometown talent as some of the nation’s top offshore teams battled it out on the water.
For Coil and Miller, it was more than just a race — it was a hometown celebration
