Beginning on Friday, June 27, 16 contestants engaged in a feat of endurance at Neon Taco to see who could keep their hand on a jetski the longest with the last person to take their hand off going home with the watercraft.
A new 2025 Yamaha JetBlaster from Surdyke Yamaha was the prize up for grabs in the contest that would ultimately take nearly three days to come to a conclusion with the winner, Smokie, coming out on top.
The event was free to the public with frequent updates provided on Neon Taco’s social media, including livestreams of the competition.
In addition to the grueling nature of the contest, contestants were also forced to deal with the elements and were moved inside for a time on a few occasions due to inclement weather. However they were eventually returned to their places outside around the jetski to continue their quest.
After 27 hours, the field had been halved and only eight contestants were still in the running, and by early Sunday, June 29, the number of contestants still standing had been whittled down to four. By that evening there were just three remaining.
As 7 a.m. on Monday morning, June 30, approached a winner was officially declared. After 68 hours the JetBlaster officially had a new owner.
